Exploring Ink, Material and Community

Join us for Botanical Bodies, a series of free events exploring ink, material, creativity and community.

Event 1: Zine workshop

Date and time: Friday 14 November 2025, 12pm - 3pm

(+30 min tidy-up)

Location: Civic Action, 2 Prince of Wales Rd, NW5 3LQ

Get involved with this collaborative zine-making workshop led by Auda Sakho (Redress Laboratory) and a young creative facilitator.

This hands-on session invites participants of all ages to explore the intersection of art, ecology, and community through natural pigments, recycled materials, and visual storytelling. Working in small groups, you’ll help produce pages for a community zine that celebrates regeneration and creativity in Camden.

The work will contribute to a mock-up zine showcased at the Botanical Bodies exhibition (28–30 November at O2 Centre, Finchley Road).

All materials are provided — just bring curiosity, imagination, and clothes you don’t mind getting a little messy!

Event 2: Exhibition of the Zine

Friday 28 November features the launch of the exhibition at noon, followed by a series of interactive workshops on plant and food-waste dyeing, milk-based materials, myco-fabrication and bioplastic prototyping. The evening concludes with a lively panel talk and networking session from 7pm.

A highlight of the event is the Community Reflection Wall, where visitors are encouraged to share their drawings, words and impressions around themes of climate, culture and creativity. The event welcomes designers, makers, students and anyone interested in sustainable art and materials innovation. Families are also invited, though under-18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Over the weekend, on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 November, the exhibition continues from 1pm to 6pm, offering visitors the chance to explore innovative materials and community-driven design projects at their own pace.
